Sam finally got to #hitchthehutchens

Sam finally got to #hitchthehutchens

My baby brother (forever, sorry, bro!) got married last month! We’re up to 8 beautiful sisters in this family! James was a groomsman and my sister and I sang PLUS my other brother and sister-in-law were both in the wedding party and have two kids, so Grammie and Papa had some kid duties during the […]

Graduating Another Brother

Graduating Another Brother

I’m pretty sure kids will be graduating in my family for pretty much ever. Last month was another one–Matt! Florida sister Mary came for the big day. Look at her gorgeously long hair! There were lots of helpers on completing Matt’s scrapbook (birth til now!), but rumor has it that Courtney spent the weeks leading […]

Cousin Timmy & a Lego Show

Cousin Timmy & a Lego Show

Our lil’ cuz turned TWO right after Liddi turned ONE. So naturally, we had to celebrate…at the Essenhaus… …Lego-style! (Seriously, we just sat and stared and this whole complex Lego city block– made by one of my siblings’ teachers, amazing!) And the cousins all crafted together. There’s my (chopped-off, sorry, bro) LITTLE brother with his cute wife and […]

Hoopie Surprise Party

Hoopie Surprise Party

Last weekend, we sneaked up to Michigan and helped throw a surprise party for my littlest sib, the servant-hearted Hoopie. It was all Anna and Abby’s idea. When you’re the youngest of ten kids, you’re lucky to get a special dinner, let alone a whole day of surprises. Actually, I don’t know much about her birthdays, […]

LaRoy Family Christmas

Soo Christmas still wasn’t done, and it was almost New Years’! We spent our last day in Michigan with James’ sister, her husband, aaaand their daughter whom we got to meet for our first time since her birth…last year! What a precious little darling she is, with the biggest smile, sweetest disposition, and really great parents […]

Other Christmas fun.

Corban learned Sorry! with his aunts. His pieces somehow always ended up in his home waaaay before the other players’ pieces. He loved it.  Grammie-Jaeda time. It had to be forced, but then the cuddles really began. Mi amor y yo. So many games were opened and learned and played. Hours and hours and hours. Jaeda tried to […]

Opening presents is a family affair.

Opening presents is a family affair.

Our big Christmas meal is on Christmas Eve. We love it that way, because we make it so big that we can eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Christmas. No cooking, just present-opening, present-playing, and overall lounging around. The.best. With 18-20 present-openers (girlfriends were in and out:)), our one tree just couldn’t contain them all. […]

Showing Off the Hutch Bunch

Showing Off the Hutch Bunch

This is my beautiful family. It just keeps growing and growing! My gorgeous, grown siblings (minus one who’s growing/grown?? in heaven). Ages 11-29. One daughter joined with a son-in-law and brought two (almost three!) new additions to the family. Did I just say three?! Yikes! Then one son joined with one daughter-in-law and brought one (for now;)) cute […]

When a whole town gets artsy.

When a whole town gets artsy.

The first weekend in October, we found ourselves in Michigan with a date night on our hands (wahooooo!). We made our way to Grand Rapids where the entire downtown was covered in art–real, creative, layperson-understood art. It was incredible! I’ll briefly highlight a very select few of the pieces we viewed (and we only visited […]

While Mom’s Away

While Mom’s Away

I’ve gotten to be away for a whole weekend two months in a row! In September, it was our annual Father/Daughter Retreat in Northern Michigan. In October, it was the True Woman Conference in Indianapolis with lovely, God-fearing women from our church. James and I talked about it at great length, since it seemed hardly […]
