The beach, new tricks, and a late-night jam session.

We’ve visited the beach a number of times these past couple weeks.
There’s one just a quick 1/2 mile bike ride away, and it’s usually been just us!
I read a bit about the technique behind building sand castles (don’t be fooled
into thinking just anyone can do this, puleeeease). And then we practiced.
While it was fun family time, it wasn’t exactly spent the way I expected. Corban
quite preferred getting bowls of water (from aaaaall the way down the beach,
since obviously the water right by us was insufficient for his water-gathering
needs) and dumping them into larger buckets. James and I were left to the castle-
building alone (while Jaeda just played with her sticks).130831_0002

Jaeda’s walking walking now. Just about everywhere.
My back is really excited.

And Corban’s taken his scootering to a whole new level…
with two feet! We’re seriously impressed.

Ben brought one of his off-campus buddies (turns out The Law of 6 Degrees
of Separation is in action even with Chris!) over, and we had an all-out jam
session in the basement. So sad that the keyboard couldn’t survive for this;
it’s on our (never-ending) list of things-to-buy. I may or may not have brought
out the banjo (okay, so this photo makes that a “may”), but mostly the guys
guitar-ed it up. And we all sang our hearts out. It.was.beautiful.
