05 May A nature scavenger hunt.
Jami invited Kira and I and our kids (aww man, they have to come too?)
over to her beautiful, newly-built house for a nature scavenger hunt for our boys.
Mmm…just smell that new construction! Isn’t it striking?
It’s fun ’cause our boys are all 2 1/2 and our girls are all pushing 1. Three mamas, six kids. What could go wrong? Well, all six of them were crying/screaming as we were making our way out the door to get going on our nature walk, but other than that, I’d say it was a pretty smooth morning.
First step was to load up our gear. You have to check this out. Totally speaks to the
teacher in me. Little bug aprons, bug catching equipment and containers, hats, and all!
We dug around in the dirt for a few minutes before going on our walk, looking for dirt, worms, and bugs of all kinds.
The girls waited patiently in their rides while the boys finished their scavenging.
Jaeda was beyond ready for her nap; she was asleep within minutes.
Love me some Keurig-made peach iced tea.
And check out those mamas up there; looking good, ladies!
Bugs and flowers made their way in the jars.
Like I said, she conked out right away.
This is what we passed as we walked.
This is what I miss about country living.
This is why we have country-living friends.
I see some real exploring possibilities when our babies aren’t babies anymore…
Every good toddler nature hunt demands a group photo.
*insert sarcastic “good luck with that” here*
That’s a wrap; let’s go home!
Jami shared a little devotional with us:
“But ask the beasts, and they will teach you;
the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you;
or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you;
and the fish of the sea will declare to you.
Who among all these does not know
that the hand of the Lord has done this?
In His hand is the life of every living thing
and the breath of all mankind.”
