This bunch has tried to swim, oh, every other week or so. But by evening, it’s been too cold, too rainy, or our schedules have clashed. A couple weeks ago, the afternoon was gorgeous, perfect swimming weather. So we made plans for swimming. And by evening, it was chilly. But I was bound and determined to swim, dagnabbit, and swim we would! We shivered our way into the pool and eventually acclimated enough that it felt just cold and not frigid. “Why are we doing this again?” we’d ask through quivering jaw every once in a while. Nobody had a satisfactory answer. But after a whole fifteen minutes of swimming, we were surprised with red, juicy watermelon and wheelbarrow rides for the kids from Neighbor James’ folks. Not all was lost. Watermelon was involved, and this pregnant lady was finally satisfied.
