The Entry of 2014

The Entry of 2014

We rang in the new year with our neighbors. Actually, we saw hours past the new year, once The Paper Game started. A decision that’s always fun in the moment but always regretted the next morning. (If you’ve never experienced the phenomenon that is TPG, come over. Tonight!) And the board game Shadows over Camelot made us almost miss the ball drop! Can the new year be as wonderful without witnessing the magical dropping ball??

All told, the five wee ones enjoyed books and puzzles, balloons (which static electricity/MAGIC made stick to the wall!) and party hats until the beloved bedtime. We took a break to put ’em all down, aaaand….it worked!  It’s the most wonderful feeling to be able to have late night events and not have to get a babysitter. Yep. This is living. Plus, one family spent the night and another came back for fancy breakfast, you know, a few hours later *yawn*. We played another round of Shadows (a knights of the round table cooperative game) and shared a kid duty rotation. It may have been the longest round this board game has ever seen, but we successfully finished! Well, technically, we lost, but still finished, completed, success.

I may say this kind of all the time, but I simply must have it in writing. WE LOVE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD! We have found such a fellowship of believers, as well as many we pray the Lord will choose to save…and maybe even through our relationship! I’m not sure if we are more willing to invest in our neighbors now that we’ve purchased this home (which is not a good reason to not invest if you’re renting; just wondering if that was subliminally part of our thinking…) or if our energy is greater toward our community now that we’re in family mode or if we simply have more time for these daily/weekly relationships since the Lord has removed so much from our schedules. I don’t fully know, but I know that we’re thankful that God planted us here for this season and are mutually benefited by this community. Praise the Lord!
