29 Jan Intricacies of a Monday: Taking Joy in the Mundane
Water to spare, steel wool for cleaning
Eyes alive, gums gnawing, teeth coming
More than enough, opportunities for patience
(through that striped item)
Capturing the precious
the messy
Exercising the mind
and taking a break
Those fingers, fully formed since before she was born
forever curious, grabbing, pinching, pulling
Chubby digits grip, push, imagine
The constant flicker of a single flame against the black, black, black of the table
reminding me of God’s light in me against the black, black, black of this world
The excited awaiting of what’s to come
Furrowed brows, inquisitive minds
Delighting in toes
and slobber
and tongues
and new handmade bows
Vibrancy (and chaos) of life with toddlers
Repeated waves of comfort
and swirls of heat
The mystery of the magnetic
Being filled in the belly with healthy foods,
in the heart with people I love,
and in the soul by the One who gave it all to us
Music to fill the air,
passing fingers across keys,
old-time hymns that sound His praise
Taking time to joy in the details of a Monday
Because
“This is the (Mon)day that the Lord has made;
I will rejoice and be glad in it!”
