The tornado that never was…Take II

The tornado that never was…Take II

I don’t know if you remember last year around this time a post we wrote about a big storm in our area. Well, we just survived another one! The National Weather Service says we had a “derecho storm” on June 30, 2012.

I had just finished filling up our borrowed pool when I saw the storm rolling in.
I ran to dump it out and bring it in; just in time too–
all those branches were swirling around my head!

Several homes were actually totaled.

Those roots were taller than the garage!

The island in Winona got hit the hardest. Shallow roots and strong winds produce lots of damage. :(

Tree blocking road…way up there.

Lots of people were without power for days!
Thankfully, ours just flickered a few times.

A powerful reminder of just how big our God is…when a storm that can create so much damage is less than a snort from His nostrils. We serve a BIG God!

The valleys of the sea were exposed
and the foundations of the earth laid bare
at your rebuke, Lord,
at the blast of breath from your nostrils.
Psalm 18:15
