A Steele Thanksgiving

A Steele Thanksgiving

Yes, we're "whooping."

After ages of neglect, we have returned to our blog! So, we headed west and north to the great state of Wisconsin, where the cheese flows like wine and the cows instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. Yes, that is us dressed as Indians. A Hutchens Thanksgiving tradition is to dress up as Pilgrims and Indians. Despite our lack of Pilgrim outfits, we still desired to embrace the tradition of the Hutchens, which resorted to us making Indian costumes out of paper bags. Also, despite our labor over making these costumes, we forgot to put them on until Saturday night! Sad, I guess the tradition just isn’t the same without little sibblings running around. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time.

A Steele Thanksgiving tradition is to play as many board games as possible. That is exactly what we did. From Backgammon and Boggle to Parcheesi and card games, we played, and played, and played…and played.

I think we can say that one of the highlights of the Wisconsin trip was getting to hang with some of our favorites–Pat and Molly Vesperman. A second highlight (or lowlight, depending on who you ask) was witnessing a deer being strung up by its neck (we left before the gutting). And thanks to chilling with that lovely couple, James has been inspired to run outside in the cold; in fact, he already has!

All in all, a fantastic weekend with fantastic memories.

We’d love to hear about your most recent Thanksgiving memory…

    Pat & Molly:
You were right, running outside in the fridgid cold isn’t too shabby at all. I feel a ton slower though…

    Becky:

James & Sarah! We loved seeing you both! And, James, running in the cold isn’t that bad, is it?? :) Keep it up! Hope we will have more opportunities to catch up again with you both before too long.
