23 Aug A smattering of happenings.
I’m back to babysitting twice a week.
I like to think I had the summer off.
But I’m pretty sure we had kids in our house
even more than our school-year babysitting.
Just can’t help it: kids are a big part of our lives now.
Uncle Ben is attending Grace College this year…
and is living with us! We’re thrilled to have him here;
I’m not sure what Corban will do when he’s gone!
We convinced Aunt Hoopie to stay for a few days after Welcome Weekend.
It’s always so nice having big kids around to help with the littles. Thanks!
This is Shanklin Park in Goshen. We had a castle park in my town growing up, which held
many, many adventures for us. This one is even better! (Except for the 35 minutes away part.)
In just a few years, I may be able to pry the kids from the swings for long enough to explore…
S.V. and I were benignly chatting in the living room when I SHOT up from the squishy carpet.
“IS THAT A BAT ON OUR PORCH?!” Sure enough. Sarah and Owie thought it was so adorable
and wanted to thoroughly check it out. All I could see was a flying mouse. ICK. But this flying
mouse eats his weight in bugs (such as mosquitos who have been eating their weight in ME).
We got Ben initiated into the family and spared this darling bat his life.
Notice I’m hiding behind a door and James is behind a screen.
Hehe.
We’ve had some really good days lately. Ever since our weekend retreat, we have suddenly
experienced less chaos (not necessarily fewer demands) in our evenings, specifically. I’m
unsure if the Lord is holding things back to give us a solid time of refocusing or if we have made
changes toward this end. Either way, we’re really enjoying this time together as a young
family! Hmm…when I say less chaos, I mean fewer weekly commitments. I do not, however,
mean the kids have fewer demands…or scares for their mother. Oy. But that’s for another post.
