When you’re two, princesses are a big deal.
As are pigtails, spinning, and making messes.
When you’re two, smooching is the best.
So are peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Mosquito-swollen eyes are not. 
When you’re two, you practice going potty.
You also practice stubbornness,
trying Mommy’s patience,
and falling asleep instead of complying.
When you’re two, your hair’s long enough to get an updo.
It will hurt, but you will look cute.
When you’re two, you insist on scootering by yourself.
You also insist on wearing your church shoes every waking moment
and sticking out your tongue when you concentrate.
So much happens
when you’re two.
