Always together.

Always together.

Last time someone fell asleep in the bike trailer, Corban was complaining that Jaeda’s hair was touching him. This time, her hair was still touching him (just can’t tame it!), but he was the one asleep! Silly preschooler who thinks he doesn’t need a nap every day…20140511_175454

We love our neighbors and hang out in their yard many evenings. But during the day, they just stare over the fence waiting impatiently for our friends to get home. See that (broken down, beat up) baby gate there? We like quick access to each others’ yards. Their new puppy however would not respect the makeshift fence, so Kevin built a beautiful new wooden gate. We have plans for tearing the fence down altogether once they buy the place; now that’d be a great in-town yard!20140521_105500

Grandma Steele came to visit over the Memorial Day weekend. We’re so thankful to be a good halfway point between our Ohio sister Erin and Wisconsin family. We love our Steele visitors!DSC_1623

I’m done babysitting for the summer…and maybe indefinitely? We’ve got just over a year before we delve into the homeschooling lifestyle, and I’m sorta thinking doing whatever we want for that year sounds nice…since it may never happen again! But babysitting jobs somehow always come, and I’m open to a little here and there. It’s an honor to be the first non-family caregiver for a child and to love them through crying fits and first foods and lots of giggles. But it’s also a privilege to do that just with my own kids. We’ll see…DSC_1659

We’re working with Corban and Jaeda to love each other (does the training ever end?!). Corban has yanked enough toys away from Jaeda that sometimes she screams if he even comes near her. So we practice having Corban help Jaeda with things I would normally help her with–getting her a drink of water, pushing her on her bike, putting her shoes on–to prove to her that he loves her and to him that she’s worth caring for. Sometimes it’s a struggle. And sometimes they just figure it out on their own. Like this one day…
