Babymoon: Take II

Babymoon: Take II

We took a refreshing babymoon in Holland, MI, a couple months before Corban arrived to spend some dedicated time reflecting on our current lives, the pending changes, praying for our new child, and sleeping. (Haha!) Well, this weekend, we did it again, only we did it staycation style.

So we dropped Corban off with my (Sarah’s) folks (we looooove meeting them halfway, conveniently located at Das Dutchman Essenhaus) and ran, with promises of  returning for him before he turned two.

Within the first hour, we had already purchased her coming-home-from-the-hospital outfit (those shorts are absolutely KILLING me with cuteness!!!) aaaaand
*drum roll, please*
had officially decided on her full name. Little girl, we are READY!

Friday night was spent at the drive-in with John & Janelle and the floof (which is basically a ginormous bean bag couch), where we watched Snow White and the Huntsman and The Hunger Games. Wanna know when we got home? 3:30am. Haven’t seen that time since, oh, we had a newborn or so. But we compensated well by sleeping in til 10:00am, which hasn’t happened in an equally long time!

Saturday morning (what was left of it) was spent getting free fabric scraps from a garage sale, drinking coffees, and heading into Fort Wayne. I wanted to get a new diaper bag to hold stuff for TWO kids. James found the perfect one at the first store we visited. I couldn’t believe that I would like one so fast, so I kept looking. But. James’ find was the one we went with!

We also bought Corban his we-still-love-you-even-though-there’s-another-person-in-our-family gift.

We’re going to wrap a Hillsong Praise music video especially for little ones (he looooves dancing to any and all music!) and a library book about being the big brother. Yes, that’s right. We’re going to wrap a library book, give it to him, read it, and then return it. Why have we not been doing this all along?? The pillow will be his special place for the many, MANY hours I’ll be nursing. He can read there, play with blocks there, watch movies there, etc. Then when I’m done nursing, we’ll put it away (you know, for 30 minutes or so until I have to nurse again. oh joy).

Saturday afternoon we went paddleboarding. It took a little getting used to out on the open sea lake, but it was such great fun! It wasn’t nearly as hard as everyone said (says the lady sitting on the board).

Don’t be fooled, though. This is how we REALLY got around the lake. ;)

Here we are. The little named one and I. 33 weeks.
And that cute maternity swimsuit from dear friend Sarah (many thanks!).

Got all showered and nice-i-fied and made our way to Cerulean for dinner.
Sat at the bar in honor of being kidless.

Anyone considering babymooning before their child is born, do it! Such a refreshing time
(even though we feel just as tired as if Corban had been with us; playing is exhausting!).

So it’s funny but I went with my sister and sister-in-law today to finish up my sister’s registery.  We were looking at diaper bags and I’m pretty sure the diaper bag you picked out was the exact same one my sister registered for! Different color, but same style! I can’t wait to hear the name and see the pictures of the new little one!!

Okay so I think we saw you paddle boarding while we were at Boathouse! We were on our last “date” with no kid(s)-not enough time for a full weekend, but wish we had considered that!
