The one with the cast

The one with the cast

Many nights, I tell Corban the story of his day before he goes to bed.

LAST NIGHT’S STORY:

There once was a little boy named Corban. On this particular day, Corban slept in, so when he woke up, he was veeeery hungry. After a yummy breakfast, he got out of his highchair and said, “Pee pee!” and he ran right to his little potty and went pee all by himself. His mommy was so proud of him! Well, after that they got dressed and went to the coffee shop to get his daddy a surprise coffee. Corban was so happy to see his daddy! Next, they went to the car shop and played and played and played with the toys. When the car was all ready, Corban and his mommy went to Miss Amy’s house to see Drew and Mackenzie. Corban loves to play on their slide! Then they went down to the park where they got a yummy free lunch. But Corban decided he didn’t want to eat the yummy veggies and started screaming and screaming, so his mommy made him walk to the trash can to throw his food away so they could leave. Sadly, Corban was being naughty and threw himself down in a big tantrum while his mommy was holding his hand very firmly. Corban and his mommy went home very quickly. Well, Corban was still screaming when they got home, so his mommy started checking his body to see if something was wrong. She got really nervous and took him right to the doctor. The doctor pushed and pushed his little elbow, but it didn’t help make it feel better. The doctor said Corban had Nursemaid’s Elbow. He told Corban’s mommy to make a sling from a longsleeve t-shirt and see how he was feeling in the morning. So Corban didn’t use his arm for the rest of the day.

TONIGHT’S STORY:

There once was a little boy named Corban. On this particular day, Corban woke up very early in the morning, crying and crying. His daddy helped him fall back asleep, but he just kept hurting his little elbow and waking up crying. So his mommy took him to a new doctor. This doctor helped his elbow get popped back in place. But Corban was still crying and crying because his elbow hurt so badly. The doctor told Corban, “I think you should have a cast.” Corban’s mommy and daddy talked about it for a while, and they decided that he should have a cast. It will help his elbow heal faster. Corban chose the green one. And then he fell fast asleep for a long, long time.

Oh, my poor Corban!  I’m sorry your are hurting, but I bet you’ll be feeling better soon.  Sarah and James, you both have my sympathies.  A headstong, active toddler.  Hmmm!  Sound like anyone I know?

Oh dear.  We will pray that it gets to feeling better very soon.  So sorry.  Becky broke her leg when she was four and we drove all the way home from Wisconsin before we took her in!  She had low tolerance for pain and we thought the fall from the wagon the night before wasn’t that bad and beside she had no bruising or swelling she just would not walk on it!  Well, there you have our confession.  Don’t beat yourself up at all over this.  Accidents happen.  Love your storytelling!  It is great and I love his green cast.  He should be feeling pretty special real soon having that to show off.
