Art Gala: Jones Edition

Art Gala: Jones Edition

The evening of April 16th a most wonderful thing happened at Christ’s Covenant Church. A celebration of art (aka Art Gala) was hosted in honor of Chris and Evie Jones leaving to carry the gospel to an unreached people group in Papua New Guinea. James donated two pieces this year which helped the cause (all the proceeds went directly to the Jones’). Here’s one of his pieces (it’s the orange lily):

He also designed this sweet word art:

Chris and Evie shared their mission with the adults. This is a list of all the languages in the world that don’t yet have the gospel!

Then there was the live auction with our own real auctioneer–Cory Coleman!

But the kids’ art section was where I lived for the night.

Art from CTC lined the walls. Jess made the sweet posters for each station:

  1. Jones Junction
  2. Solar Powered
  3. Prayer Warriors
  4. People of PNG

Corban was with me for part of the night and with James for most of the night.

Creating balloon globes and tp flowers to remember to pray for our missionaries.

Writing encouraging notes and coloring silly pictures of the Jones’.

During snack time, Chris and Evie showed us how native PNG-ers eat their meals.

This is maybe our favorite photo. Do you see the kid’s feet in the air? Hello, preschoolers. :)

We raised over $6,000 from art and food bids (yes, there was a whole section with incredible delicacies!)! Praise the Lord!

Ruby, I first thought of a bunch of words that were about missions. Then I looked at each word in all kinds of different fonts and pieced them together. The key is to use variety. Make some words big, some small, some on two lines, some sideways.

coffee is what I meant! That is the word I did. I think it is the last or 12th (I think that is the number of what I see) on the photo with the word chain thing! Mine was yellow lettering and looked like a bee at an angel!
